Musician (mainly saxophone), bandleader, composer, Outertainer and writer Studied with saxophonist & composer John Tchicai 1973-1978 and composer & arranger Bob Brookmeyer 1997-1999. Otherwise self-taught. Career as a musician: Member of John Tchicai & The Festival band, 1975-1978. Formed the trio Cockpit Music with percussionist Peter Ole Jørgensen(a.k.a. Pere Oliver Jørgens) and guitarplayer Søren Tarding, 1978- . Numerous concerts and tours in Denmark and abroad (Sweden, Switzerland,Ukraine, Iran, Syria, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia). Albums: Transworlds of Sounds, 1981, Snow Lake City,1982, Salute for General Wasteland, 1983, Stop/Go, 1984, Hands up, 1989, The Great Dividing Range, 1996, Tales from the North, 1999, Solitude In Borderline, 2003 and This Doesn't Look Like Our Town, 2010. Member of Sods/Sort Sol, 1980-1983. Bandleader of the workshopgroup Tapehead, 1981-1985, the 6 to 9 piece saxophone-orchestra Somesax, 1985-1990; Albums: Flapper,1990 The 12 piece Dane T.S.Hawk & his Great Mongo Dilmuns, 1990- . The tentet Loco Motion Starsemble, 2002-. Numerous concerts mostly in Denmark like Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Venue Festival, Roskilde Festival, Århus Festuge and the jazz, rock and techno club circuit, also Slovenia, Kroatia, Expo 2000; Albums: Don`t Hesitate (to get out there), 1996, Bøh - music to an imaginary Nordic Horror Tale, 1997, Death Disco 2000 (+ bonus ep w/ remixes by Goodiepal), 1998, Dreamblues, 2002. Formed the tentet, Dane T. S. Hawk & The Loco Motion Starsemble, 2002- Has since 1980 been performing as a selfproclamed outertainer with hundreds of soloshows combining the spoken word from his literary output with music (saxophone, keyboard, turntables and prepared tapes). Tours all over Denmark, also Scandinavia, ex-Yougoslavia and Egypt; Albums: Det talte ord & raske råberemser, 2000. Often in duo with sonic-programmer Troels Bech. Compositions to all above-mentioned groups, also to Danish and French dance companies during the 1980's, The Royal Danish Theatre, the former Billedstofteatret, Denmarks Radio, short film, video and cd-rom. The Sweet Devil On The Loose and I am 3 performed by 75 musicians at the Canopy-stage, Roskilde Festival, 1994. The opera-score SOAP with libretti by poet Morti Vizki, performed by singers Master Fatman, Helene Gjerris, Nikolaj Schøitz Winding and Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen at Den Anden Opera 1995. Listen, No Heavy Breathing, Just Knock It Off performed by a percussion trio at Den Anden Opera, 1997. The piano concerto I've Been Chopping Wood, That Makes Me A Hungry Man performed by pianist Per Salo at Den Anden Opera, 1998. The bigband piece Mista BB, You Pushed My Wall performed by Copenhagen Art Ensemble at Copenhagen Jazz House,1999. Tromfoniske Maskinetter performed by DuoDenum (percussionist Christian Utke and saxophonist Jeanette Balland) at Kunstindustrimuseet,1999. 3 betingelser for liv performed by The Score Octet at VEGA, 1999.
