Toshio Matsuura

Japanese electronic DJ and producer. Matsuura is probably best known for his work as one of the three collective members of the [a=United Future Organization] in 1990, who released five full albums over 12 years.  Since their demise in 2002, he has concentrated more on DJ-ing at clubs and festivals internationally, producing events and music supervision for notable fashion brands. While his solo production and remix work during this period, often using pseudonym [a=Fantasista], has included many artists, including [a=James Brown], [a=Astor Piazzolla], [a=Gotan Project], [a=Melanie De Biasio], et al. In 2013, he gathered talented and forward-thinking artists based in Tokyo to produce a project called [a=HEX (30)] which presents Tokyo’s progressive form of Jazz to the world, with their debut self-titled album "[m=731779]" (2013) released worldwide on major jazz label [l=Blue Note]. Around 2018, new project [a=Toshio Matsuura Group] gathered UK musicians, with album "[m=1347634]" (2018) being released on [a=Gilles Peterson]'s British label [l=Brownswood Recordings]. Matsuura's has two regular radio programmes. The first being "WW Toyko", broadcast 11:00-13:00 (UK time) on the 1st & 3rd Monday each month, on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. With the second being "Tokyo Moon", which airs 17:00-18:00 each Sunday (Japan time) on "InterFM897".
