Ukranian born conductor, songwriter, musical director, arranger and pianist. Born August 12, 1890 · Nikopol, Yekaterinoslav Governorate, Russian Empire [now Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine]. Died January 10, 1972 · New York City, New York, USA. Graduated from the Peacbody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. USA. He became Al Jolson's musical director in 1919. He was introduced to musical comedy by [a3660292], who persuaded him to collaborate in producing his musical, "So Long, Letty." Goodman worked on several successful Broadway musicals in the 1920s-40s. Eventually Goodman became involved with directing, composing and supervising music for radio and television productions.
