13th Son of December

13th Son is a Sydney MC with who has been active in the local hip hop scene since the early nineties. Previously part of 3-man outfit Fathom, 13th son has appeared on the Australian hip-hop compilation Home Brews vol. 2 (released through Mds) and the independent compilation Basic Equipment, the companion to the ABC TV documentary of the same name. He has also released a tape with Fathom in 1997 that is still regarded as ahead of it's time. 13th Son has also supported US acts DJ Disk, Mystic Journeymen, Latyrx, Blackalicious, Moka Only, Souls of Mischief and Ugly Duckling. In 2001 he released the "Always" EP; his first solo outing and is the result of a collaboration with Def Wish Cast/Celsius MC and Producer Sereck and is the fourth release from Sereck's independent label, Basic Equipment. 13th Son has also collaborated with Sydney MC Macross Matrix for a track titled "A Walk in the Park" which is featured on the CD-ROM available with issue 2, vol. 2 of Australian publication Stealth magazine. In 2005 13th Son released his first full length solo album titled, "The Hero, The Trickster" (Earshot Records) featuring production from Fame Boogie, Sereck, Yvern from Fathom and others. This was followed up a year later with the sophomore release, "Our Lives" (Grindin'). Production was handled by M-Phazes, S-Dub, Jase and others. After a long hiatus 13th Son has returned with a a number of new releases and projects underway.
