Jean S

Finnish band best known for playing pop, rock and soul covers. The band was founded in 1991 as the house band for the Finnish music university Sibelius Academy's club (the band's name derives from a Finnish composer [a627442], after whom the university is named). The band gained success as an entertaining act playing up to 200 gigs a year during its most active period in the 1990s and early 2000s. Jean S was also a house band for a Finnish theater [a5003157] (UIT), a role which the band had from 2008 to 2022. Founding members, main vocalists and frontmen Timo Kärkkäinen and Antti Paavilainen left the band in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
