Vilko Ovsenik

Slovenian clarinettist and composer of popular folk music, born on 9 November 1928 in Begunje. Died 4 August 2017. The brother of [a=Slavko Avsenik] and former member of [a=Ansambel Bratov Avsenik], he is co-author and arranger of around 800 songs of the ensemble (together with his brother as "[a843377]"). Due to the war, the Avsenik family had to change its name from Ovsenik, as it was originally spelled, to Avsenik. Father of Slavko and Vilko wanted one of them to change their surname to Ovsenik, which Vilko did. So Vilko was officially called Vilko Ovsenik and not Vilko Avsenik.
