Skip Easterling
"Blue-eyed soul singer", born July 1, 1945, in New Orleans, James "Skip" Easterling's mother soon moved to Slidell, Louisiana. Easterling released singles starting in 1964 on [l141535]. Successful only in and around New Orleans, he had his big hit in 1971 with the funky rendition of [a=Willie Dixon]'s "Hoochie Koochie Man" on [l126199]. Released at the same time as New Orleans [a=Jean Knight]'s #1 national hit "Mr. Big Stuff", in New Orleans the Skip Easterling song was #1, & kept Knight's smash at #2.
