Keistuolių Teatras
Keistuolių Teatras is a Lithuanian professional private theatre which performs for children and adults. Theatre was founded in 1989 by Lithuanian Academy of Music actors Ilona Balsytė, Aidas Giniotis, Sigutis Jačėnas and director Romualdas Vikšraitis. Since 1997 the theatre was joined by members of Keistuoliai Theatre Group of Vilnius University headed by Nijole Gelžinytė. In 2001 the theatre became a member of ASSITEJ (International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People). Theatre's creative team is focused on finding new forms of communication with the audience, and often breaks the frames of classical music, literature, theatre and film genres. Subtle humour and sense of self irony is frequent feature in their plays. Improvisation and playful form are characteristic to most of the performances. By the year 2014 Keistuolių Teatras staged more than 50 plays, created 8 movies, released 10 CD albums. Every year there are about 200 performances played in Lithuanian cities and towns. The theatre has performed in Poland, Austria, Denmark, USA, Canada, Germany, Russia, Estonia and other countries. Keistuolių Teatras is no doubt the best known kids’ entertainment brand in Lithuania. A theatre which played significant role in most of today’s kids parents’ childhood.
