Willy Bestgen

Swiss jazz / folk musician, composer and bandleader (1914 - 1976). Founded his dance orchestra in the 1930's in Switzerland, playing regularly and successfully around the country and touring with [a=Vico Torriani] and [a=Lys Assia]. For many years, his wife Betty (Elisabeth Bestgen-Birchler) used to play the drums in the orchestra, making her the first female drummer in Switzerland.
