Eddie Taylor (5)

British jazz drummer. Born: 1929 in Oldham, Lancashire, England, UK. Taylor served in the RAF between 1947–1949, then began drumming in local bands. He joined the [a=The Johnny Dankworth Seven] in 1951, staying for two years. From 1954 to 1956 he worked with [a=Tommy Whittle] in his popular quintet with [a=Harry Klein]. He then had a long spell from 1956 to 1964 with the [a=Humphrey Lyttelton] mainstream band. Thereafter he freelanced in a wide range of musical situations including, cruising, studio recording work, and theatre work until 1980. He continued freelancing through to the 2000s, working with [a=Bruce Turner], [a=John Chilton], and [a=Humphrey Lyttelton] again.
