Roy Hill

English songwriter from the late 70's-80's. "In 1975 I won a regional heat of the Melody Maker Rock Contest and figured I must be the new Dylan. Fame and indecent fortune beckoned. Wrote more songs, played floor spots in a Cheltenham folk club, formed an ad hoc band, the Strolling Players, made my first demos and hawked them around the record companies and music publishers of London's notorious Tin Pan Alley". He started his career in 1978 with "Roy Hill", produced by Gus Dudgeon. In 1981 he joined his friends [a260456] as singer for just two shows. In 1983/4 he wrote some songs with [a65784] and in 1985 he founded "Cry No More" with his friend from "Strawbs" [a311575].
