Kinetix (2)

Kinetix is one of the many aliases used from the composer and Italian sound artist Gianluca Becuzzi, active since the mid-80s. In his first artistic phase (2000-2010), Kinetix production was characterized with a strong experimental features and the interest towards the various shapes of the digital-minimal noise (glitch, sinewave, micro-drone). After ten years of activity and various pubblications, in 2010 Becuzzi froze this moniker, for re-activate it five years later with different sound and conceptual ideas. "Urban Nightscapes", published from Tiny Speaker in November 2016, is the album that depict a new artistic phase for Kinetix. The eight compositions of the CD matches, as the title suggests, with eight soundscapes dense with nocturnal, urban moods. The rhytmic is broken and prevalently in low-mid beat, in the foreground, meanwhile icy electronics rarefactions and sinister noises are placed in the background. These are the main structures of soundscapes that generates in the listener a sense of disorientation and threat. Maps of non-places consecrated to the collective oblivion, psychogeographies of the "here and now", where the perception of the self merges with the uncertain identity of the surrounding. The aesthetics of the new course of Kinetix surrenders in front to the impossibility in seeing a possible future, turning its attention to the representation of the circular perspective of the eternal present that is all around us .
