Piggy In The Middle

Band members were: Björn Yttling, keyboardist Gustaf Hielm, guitar Jerker Eklund bassist Peter Morén sings and plays guitar Erik Hammarström, drummer They met when they all studied music in Västerås. For a while, the members were scattered in Piteå, Bollnäs, Västerås, Svalöv and Skurup, Later the band was based in Stockholm, except Erik Hammarström who lives in Malmö. Apart from the original bassist Johan Bengtsson from Piteå, who was replaced, the lineup has been stable since they formed in January 1993. A couple of months after forming they won a music competition where the prize was one day in the studio at Radio Västmanland. The result was the demo "… The Cat & The Fiddle", which in turn resulted in a gig at the Hultsfred Festival 1993. Unfortunately, someone stole their cords, pedals and other effects in their tent, so the concert on the Stora Dansbanan did not turn out as expected. In the spring of 1994, they recorded and mixed ten songs in three days. They were released as two demo cassettes, "Nicely Received In Germany" and "Kana Kapila", both reviewed in Sound Affects. In the summer of 1995, Piggy In The Middle released a four-song CD-EP, "Soap Operas", which was reviewed in Sound Affects # 28. And in the autumn of 1995 they signed a record contract with Solna-based Rainbow Music (MD) and released the debut album "Images And Distorted Facts", inspired by Bob Dylan's "Idiot Wind". All songs except one are taken from the EP and the two latest demo cassettes, and are very loyal to the originals.
