Eduardo Cabrera

Eduardo Cabrera, best known as "El Negro Cabrera", was a virtuoso pianist, arranger and orchestra director. Cabrera was born in Havana, Cuba on February 22, 1936, and when he was sixteen years old he was playing piano with the famous [a3469182]. In his early years Cabrera began his musical studies at Conservatorio Nacional de Música in his motherland. At the middle of fifties of century XX, during a tour with [a3120851], Cabrera arrived to Venezuela, and decided to stay there, fixing his residence in Caracas until the end of his days. Cabrera began to play with notable dancing orchestras as [a4101196], [a678500], later founded his own orchestra "Caracas Swing's Boys" as well a sextet, and he was a close collaborator in different projects of respected Venezuelan musicians as [a=Aldemaro Romero] and [a=Alberto Naranjo]. Cabrera was a founder of "Caracas Jazz Club", while at that time was continuing a magistral career as arranger and musical director on RCTV and VTV, Advertising Industry, Recording Studios, and different international festivals as "Festival del Niño", obtaining first place during 1970, 1971 and 1972. In the same way, Cabrera got the honor place on prestigious O.T.I Festival in 1973 and 1975. Cabrera died on July 21, 2002, in Caracas, Venezuela, his second homeland.
