Fluxus (6)

Fluxus is six-member Flemish traditional music ensemble that skillfully combines traditional instruments with modern sound. The result is idiosyncratic "fluid folk" (’fluxus’ in English means flowing or moving), which has granted new life to Flemish traditional music and found its established place in Belgian musical landscape. The last time Fluxus performed in Viljandi was in 2001, and although, as of today, the group has disbanded, they decided to make a present to Viljandi Folk Music Festival for the 20th anniversary and come together to perform two concerts. Fluxus was born in the mid-nineties in the Garriau family of musicians – father Paul, son Koen and daughter Greet – who arranged their own original music. Soon they were joined by their friends Stefan Timmermans, Bert Evens, Sam Van Ingelghem and Stef Vanstraelen. Together they developed a musical style unique to the group and an enjoyable melodic repertoire, which was quickly receiving acclaim at different folk music festival both in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe.
