Palinckx

Palinckx consists of five people who have joined forces in order to make music. Together they create the specific Palinckx sound. The group may be labelled as a rockband, an improvising quartet or a modern music ensemble ... it's all the same to them. During the more recent period of its fifteen years existence Palinckx has increasingly focused on songs, although its roots in improvised and contemporary music have never been abandoned. In any musical tradition that this group has either examined or absorbed it has always searched to link up with "the heart of the matter". For it's definitely more fun to deal with founding fathers than to waste time on dedicated followers of fashion. The freedom to include any suitable idea or concept has led Palinckx to present its work as free link music. It sounds tougher than normal music, somewhat sweeter than noise, louder than lullabies and hardly ever as smooth as jazz. Palinckx offers: lo fi effects and high brow arrangements, ancient instruments and up-to-date electronics, literature and stupid conversations. The group refuses to choose between dirt and beauty. They're too curious to know how these two may get along, knowing that that's what real life is about. The group is often regarded as a band lead by the two founding Palinckx brothers. However, the current basic line-up functions as a collective that initiates a wide range of projects, involving numerous collaborations with guest musicians and other artists.
