Belkis Concepción

Merenguera (pianist, singer and orchestra lead, merengue style) from Dominican Republic. Nicknamed "La Chica del Merengue" or "La Pionera" (for been the first to have created an all-girls merengue band), she created her first female band Las Muchachas in 1976, then [a1205073] in 1981 with producer Wilfrido Vargas, but had to be replaced in 1984 by Miriam Cruz as singer, due to illness. She later created Las Estrellas del Merengue (2013) in Barranquilla, Colombia. also appears as Belkys (born 20 Jun. 1961)
