Pompa

Pompa were one of the first Lithuanian hip-hop bands formed in 1992 in Vilnius by Saulius Sventickas and Mamontovas brothers Andrius and Justas. Band’s name is said to be contributed to the famous Technotronic’s track Pump Up The Jam. First singles immediately became massive hits in Lithuania and five tracks of the debut album became No. 1 hits in national radio charts. Founders of Pompa Justas and Saulius switched their activity to managing and producing the band whilst on stage performers became randomly chosen friends who changed frequently in band’s active years. The first album Mallonu released in October was the very first release of a newly formed record label Bomba (catalogue number BBMC 001). In 1994 Pompa recorded two tracks with Russian lyrics and filled up the debut album re-release Mallonu Menthol. In 1995 Pompa released their second album Kriminalinė Romantika (eng. Criminal Romance) recorded with music producer Algirdas Ramanauskas. The last album Blatnos Dainos (eng. Thieves' Cant) was produced by Žeraldas Povilaitis and released in 1996 after the band's split. Top hits: Mama, 2mblas, Pompa, Tu Ne Jam, Pats Suteik Sau Malonumą, Viskas Tavo Bosui, Rankos Ant Vairo, Mes Jau Nebe Vaikai.
