The [b]Omar Rodriguez Lopez Quartet[/b] was an American experimental/psychedelic rock/fusion electronica group established by [a=Omar Rodriguez-Lopez] in 2006 as one of his solo projects outside [a=The Mars Volta], alongside the associated [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1049586]Quintet[/url] and [a=Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group]/[url=https://discogs.com/artist/1408893]"New" Group[/url]. The band featured TMV's bassist [url=https://discogs.com/artist/408658]Juan Alderete de la Peña[/url], [a=Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez] on drums and keyboards, and [url=https://discogs.com/artist/92476]RHCP[/url] guitarist and Omar's frequent collaborator, [a=John Frusciante]. Their sole studio release, [i][m=286186][/i] Maxi-EP ("Tombs of Honey" in English), initially came out on 30 May 2010 as a free download at Omar's official Bandcamp alongside [i][m=287701][/i] duo collaboration with the option to donate any amount to "Keep Music In Schools" charity. (Subsequently, it became a regular digital album at a minimum price of $4.99.) The LP edition on [l=Rodriguez Lopez Productions] followed on 15 July 2010, limited to 2000 copies pressed on purple and orange colored vinyl.
