Thelonious Monk Jr.

American jazz drummer, bandleader, composer and vocalist, born December 27, 1949, NYC. Son of [a=Thelonious Monk], nicknamed "Toot," he started to play drums before the age of ten. He studied with [a=Max Roach] and toured with his father. He has been successful in jazz, earning a few awards throughout his career. He is also founder and chairman of The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.
