Beth Anderson (2)
American composer of classical, neo-romantic, avant-garde music, text-sound works, and musical theater. Born in 1950 in Lexington, Kentucky. Studied primarily in California with John Cage, Terry Riley, Robert Ashley and Larry Austin at Mills College and the University of California at Davis. A Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts, she moved to New York City in the mid-1970s, where she married in 1995. Most famous for her invention of [i]swales[/i], a musical form based on collages and samples of newly composed music rather than existing music. Used to listen to Megadeth whilst cleaning her appartment.
