During Mercer's tenure at EMI, he signed artists such as [a=Queen], the [a=Sex Pistols], [a=Olivia Newton-John], [a=Kate Bush] and [a=Marc Bolan]. Born Oct. 17, 1944, in Preston, Lancashire, England.
