The Playtones

Swedish "dansband" and rock'n'roll band from Kallinge in Blekinge, Sweden, formed in 2008. They play music strongly influenced by rockabilly, rock and roll and country from the 1950s and 60s. The band has its roots in Boppin' Steve & The Playtones. The Playtones participated in Dansbandskampen 2009, where they won the entire competition after a final duel against Titanix. In December 2010, original member Peter Andersson, who played steel guitar, quit. In 2011, guitarist Anders Svensson joined the band. The Playtones came sixth in Melodifestivalen 2011 with the song "The King", written by Fredrik Kempe and Peter Kvint and produced by Jimmy Jansson, after the band was invited in the middle of the ongoing Dansbandskampen 2010.
