Kathy Stobart

English jazz tenor saxophonist (also alto, soprano, baritone sax), born April 1, 1925 in South Shields, England. Died July 5, 2014 in London, England. Stobart worked with Denis Rose (1940s), Ted Heath (1940s), Jimmy Skidmore (1940s), Art Pepper, Peanuts Hucko, Art Thompson (late 1940s), Vic Lewis (1949), led her own group (1950-1951), Derek Humble, Dill Jones, Bert Courtley (her husband), and with American jazz stars Johnny Griffin, Al Haig, Earl Hines, Buddy Tate, Zoot Sims, Marian McPartland, Dick Hyman and others. Died July 5, 2014
