Jaroslav Krček

Czech conductor, composer, ensemble leader, multi-instrumentalist. Born 22 April 1939, Čtyři Dvory near České Budějovice (former Czechoslovakia). Husband of [a=Gabriela Krčková]. Studied at the teacher training department of the B. Jeremiáš School of Music in České Budějovice and the State Conservatoire in Prague. He was a composition pupil of [a=Miloslav Kabeláč] and studied conducting with [a=Bohumír Liška]. Krček began his professional career as music editor for the Czechoslovak Radio Studio in Pilsen, later working in the Supraphon publishing house. Since 1973 he has devoted himself exclusively to composing and performing. He is a co-founder of the innovative Chorea bohemica ensemble (1967) and an artistic director of the FOK Musica bohemica chamber ensemble (1975).
