Rauf Islamov

Rauf Islamov is a kamancheh player from Azerbaijan. In 1998, he was awarded the laureateship at the mugham competition in Azerbaijan, and also began collaborating with Alim Qasimov. He has since performed internationally in the Alim Qasimov Ensemble. He also performs with the Silk Road Ensemble and collaborates with the Cultural Center "Alim" in Baku. Islamov studied at the Asaf Zeynalli Music College (1994-1998) and the National Conservatory (2001-2005). His teachers included Fakhraddin Dadashov and Adalat Vazirov. He has been teaching the kamancheh class at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory since 2006.
