Phil Harris

American singer, songwriter, jazz musician, actor and comedian Born 24 June 1904 in Linton, Indiana, USA Died 11 August 1995 in Rancho Mirage, California, USA. He was an orchestra leader and a pioneer in radio situation comedy, first with The Jack Benny Program, then in The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show in which he co-starred with his wife, singer-actress [a=Alice Faye]. Harris is also noted for his voice acting in animated films. As a singer, he charted eleven times, beginning as early as 1933 and last in 1968. He recorded a #1 novelty hit record, "The Thing" (1950) and a #2 with "One-Zy Two-Zy " in 1946. Harris was a benefactor of his birthplace of Linton, Indiana, establishing scholarships in his honor for promising high school students, performing at the high school, and hosting a celebrity golf tournament in his honor every year
