D (18)

D is a rock/metal visual kei band formed by former [a=Syndrome (12)] members [a=Asagi], [a=Ruiza] and [a=Sin (26)] in March 2003. Other musicians involved were bassist [a=レナ] and drummer [a=Hiroki (8)] (former [a=Aioria] member). The debut live took place at a multiple bands event at Kawasaki Club Città on April 6 2003. At this stage the band was co-produced by engineer and multi-instrumentalist [a=Tatsuya Kase] and released music through Asagi's label [l=God Child Records]. In July 2003 Sin left the band and Ruiza was hospitalized, forcing D to temporarily stop activities until he recovered in September. In the meantime guitarist [a=Hide-Zou] was added to the lineup. In April 2005 D had their first one man live tour titled "The Phantom of the Opera", with a sold-out final gig at Ebisu Liquid Room on May 21st. In late July [a=レナ] left D for personal reasons. Guitarist Hide-Zou temporarily switched to bass for live performances until a replacement was found in former Scissor member [a=Tsunehito] in early December of the same year. During 2006 D became more and more popular in the indies scene and Asagi and Ruiza briefly worked on solo side-projects. On December 6 D played a successful sold out concert at the famous live hall Shibuya Kōkaidō (now C.C. Lemon Hall). One month later, the official fan club "Ultimate Lover" was launched. With the release of the single "Dearest You" in April 2007 D managed to top the indies best selling single chart and being interviewed by the famous TV host Shoji Nōriko. One year later D signed a contract with the major label [l=Avex Trax]. The major debut was commemorated by a series of 22 "last indies" performances from February to May 2008. A couple of months later D started their own weekly TV show "Bara no Yakata 薔薇の館" on Teletama.
