Юрий Силантьев

Yury Silantiev (10 April 1919, Promsino, Ulianovsk Oblast — 8 February 1983, Moscow) was a Soviet conductor, violinist, and composer, a People's Artist of the USSR (1975). He served as chief conductor of several prolific ensembles: Since 1940 - violinist and conductor of NKVD Song and Dance Ensemble USSR (later name - [a3488968]). Since 1947 - 1953 he was the concertmaster and assistant conductor of All-Union Radio Committee Opera Orchestra = Оперный оркестр Всесоюзного радиокомитета. From 1953 to 1957 - he was the concertmaster and assistant conductor of [a844250]. From 1958 to 1983 - artistic director and chief conductor of [a1055021] (now Y. Silantiev Academic Grand Concert Orchestra = [a14444000]).
