John Walters

Born May 16, 1938 in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, England and died July 30, 2001 in Oxted, Surrey, England, UK. Best known for producing John Peel's legendary BBC Radio 1 show for 12 years, helping Peel to shape the more leftfield side of popular music, Walters was also a highly respected radio producer and broadcaster in his own right, and also a familiar face on British television screens.As a young man he studied as an artist and exhibited his paintings beside those of David Hockney before becoming a teacher. He also achieved some chart success in the 1960s as a trumpet player with the Alan Price Set.
