Helmut Schaal

German conductor, mainly of German Military Bands. Born: 13 January 1917 in Dornhan, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Died: 14 January 2022 (95 years old) [b]Bands Conducted:[/b] 1. [a3354202] (1965-1972) 2. [a479722] (1975-1980) In 1946 Helmut Schaal studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart and was graduated in 1952. In 1961 he joined to the [a910663]. From 1963 to 1965 he was [b]second[/b] conductor of the [a479722] (under the direction of [a1421037]). From 1965 to 1972 he was conductor of the [a3354202]. In 1975 was conductor of the [a479722] until 1980. In 1976 he made a concert trip to the United States with the [a479722] on the occasion of the 200-year celebration of the independence. From 1980 to 1986, Schaal was music inspector of the Bundeswehr. In 1984 he was appointed professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. Helmut Schaal died on 14 January 2022, one day after his 95th birthday.
