Hector Costita

Brazilian-based Argentinian sax and flute player (b. Buenos Aires, 1934), settled in São Paulo since 1956. He was part of [a=Bossa Rio] (Sérgio Mendes band) from 1962 to 1964. In 1964, he founded his own band, [a=Hector Costita Sexteto], recording the seminal album "Impacto". From 1973 to 1981, Costita joined the [a=Nelson Ayres] big band. He has performed and recorded with artists such as [a=Astor Piazzolla], [a=Lalo Schifrin], [a=Manfredo Fest], [a=Sérgio Mendes], [a=Erlon Chaves], [a=Zimbo Trio], [a=Hermeto Pascoal] and [a=Elis Regina]. In 2023, he toured as special guest of singer [a=Ithamara Koorax], on the tour that celebrated 60 years of the "Getz/Gilberto" album.
