Владимир Васильков

Vladimir Vasilkov (1944-2013) is a Russian jazz drummer, often considered as one of the most skilled and vigorous performers in the USSR in the 1970s. He graduated from the Moscow Gnesin Music School in 1968. Vasilkov became famous after performing with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/2825442]German Lukyanov Trio[/url] at Moscow Jazz Festivals in 1965-66. He also played in [url=https://discogs.com/artist/2839226]Vadim Sakun Quintet[/url] in 1967 and [url=https://discogs.com/artist/2586701]Alexei Kozlov Quartet[/url] in 1968. Vladimir used to play at all famous jazz cafes in Moscow, including Molodezhnoe, Café Rhythm, and Blue Bird. At the Pechora café, Vasilkov presented his unique ensemble of three drummers with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/2991473]Mikhail Kudryashov[/url] and Boris Gerinas (occasionally, [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1663471]Alexander Pishikov[/url] on saxophone would play with a band). In 1973, Vasilkov became a member of [a=Oleg Lundstrem Orchestra]. He also worked at the [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1495196]Leonid Utesov's Jazz Orchestra[/url] from 1974 to 1976 and formed a quartet with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1147856]Sergey Gurbeloshvili[/url], [url=https://discogs.com/artist/2027401]Valery Kutsinsky[/url] and Arkady Eskin. At the end of the 1980s, Vasilkov played in the "[url=https://discogs.com/artist/1383097]Sovremennik[/url]" Orchestra of Anatoli Kroll.
