Conlon Nancarrow
American composer, born 27th October 1912 in Texarkana, Arkansas, died 10th August 1997 in Mexico City. Nancarrow mainly composed for player piano by progamming sound events via punched paper rolls. He was one of the first composers to use the technical possibilites of mechanical musical instruments making them play far beyond human performance ability. [a=György Ligeti], among others, honored him by calling his work the greatest discovery since Webern and Ives.
