Los Marijuanos

Rap group from Chicago, Illinois. The original members consisted of [a729739], [a2011956] and [a1517386]. Skribe and DJ Payback Garcia left the group on good terms to pursue [a1517393] projects. Therefore, DJ Kid Scratch and Juni C later joined the group and appeared on the sophomore album "The Smoke Out" in 2001. When Pony Boy moved to Las Vegas, Nevada he recruited [a14868890] members Escade and Mr. Fuzzy. Los Marijuanos is Spanish for "Potheads," "Weed smokers" or "Stoners." Prior to the release of "The Smoke Out" the group was engulfed in a huge controversy with rap trio [a37905]. It appeared that Cypress Hill, along with Jane’s Addiction, Deftones, Downset and Everlast, formed a super group using the preexisting name Los Marijuanos. Wicked Entertainment sent all parties including Paul Rosenberg (manager of Cypress Hill & Eminem) a “friendly cease-and-desist letter stating that the group has recorded under this name since 1998, and that they would appreciate it if the California collective would come together under another name.” Pony Boy was left flabbergasted with the situation. Pony Boy stated he's been tight with Cypress Hill member Sen Dog for several years and even supported his "Latin Thug" clothing line. Pony Boy also stated "We have our second album coming out in less than a month and we don’t need to go confusing people. We have a hard enough time as an indie group."
