Νίκος Εγγονόπουλος

Greek professor, painter, stage designer, and poet. Born 21 October (Julian calendar)/3 November (Gregorian calendar) 1907 in Athens, Greece - Died 31 October 1985 in Athens, Greece. He was one of the most important members of "Generation of the '30s", as well as a major representative of the surrealist movement in Greece. His work as a writer also includes translations, studies, critique and essays. He taught at the National Metsovian University (Free Design, 1956-1964). Twice recipient of the First Poetry Prize of the Ministry of National Education (1958 and 1979). In 1966, he was honoured with the Golden Cross of George I medal for his painting. He was also honoured with the medal of the Order of the Phoenix
