May Alix

Jazz singer, born August 31, 1902, in Chicago. She recorded as a band vocalist with Louis Armstrong (1926) and Jimmie Noone (1929), performed at clubs and revues in the 1930s, retired from music c. 1941. The name May Alix was also used as pseudonym for [a=Alberta Hunter] on Paramount, Famous, Harmograph, and Puritan, and the name Mae Alix was a pseudonym on Silvertone 3520 for [a=Edna Hicks], and on Silvertone 3521 possibly for [a=Edmonia Henderson].
