Yngve Åkerberg

Swedish bassist, organization leader and copyright expert, born February 11, 1927 in Nässjö, dead April 12, 2007. In the late 1940s and first half of the 1950s, Yngve Åkerberg was one of Swedish jazz's most sought-after bassists. From that time he can be heard on recordings led by Thore Swanerud, Arne Domnérus, James Moody, Max Brüel, Teddy Wilson, Delta Rhythm Boys, Rolf Larsson, Rolf Ericson, Stan Getz, Göte Wilhelmson, Lars Gullin, Bengt Hallberg, Sonya Hedenbratt, Charlie Norman, Willy Lundin, Gösta Theselius, Putte Wickman and many others. In 1950, he was also part of the Expressen Elite Orchestra. He had become a member of the Svenska Musikerförbundet (Swedish Musicians' Association) as early as 1943. In 1960 he was elected to the association's board and in the years 1977-85 he was its chairman.
