The New Mayfair Dance Orchestra

This was a London studio orchestra used for recording purposes by The Gramophone Company from 1928 to 1942. Records by this group were credited as [a=The New Mayfair Dance Orchestra], [a=New Mayfair Novelty Orchestra] or [a=The New Mayfair Orchestra], depending on the type of material recorded. Over the years sessions were directed by various musicians including [a=Percival Mackey], [a=Carroll Gibbons], [a=George W. Byng], [a=Ronnie Munro], [a=Harry Leader], [a=Phil Green] and most famously [a=Ray Noble] (1929-1934) but by 1932 Ray Noble took most of the New Mayfair Orchestra's members and creating his own orchestra, known as "[a=Ray Noble & His New Mayfair Dance Orchestra]" (Ray Noble And His New Mayfair Orchestra). Then in 1933, it was changed again, this time known as "[a=Ray Noble And His Orchestra]".
