Andre Schuster

Australian musician (violin & bass) - b. Transylvania 17 Dec. 1903 - d. Australia 1979. The son of a Lutheran pastor, Andre learnt music from the gypsies and played violin and double bass, and played in various groups. He claimed to have worked & recorded with Teddy Stauffer in Germany in the 1930s. He arrived in Melbourne, Australia in 1934. In 1956, he was a member and bass player of [a2988738] that also included [a2002247] on piano and [a1946286] on bongos. They released their EP "Samba Rhumba Time on Planet PZ 001. They played at the best known hotel in Melbourne. Leading his own group, [a2964365], he had a release two years later with "In Exotic Rhythm" on Planet PZ 017. It was also released on Planet's subsidary, [a2964365]. He died in Fairfield, Victoria in 1979. His daughter is Australian artist, Karin Luciano.
