King Wellington
Calypso and soca artist from Trinidad & Tobago, first recorded in the 1960s as The Cisco, then reinvented himself in the 1970s as King Wellington. Wellington is known as one of several artists who were experimenting with new sounds during the era in which soca developed as a genre - in his case, fusing calypso with American soul music, emphasizing the role of the drums in particular.
