Caveira

Caveira are a Portuguese free rock group based in Lisboa, formed in 2005 by Pedro Gomes and Rita Vozone on guitars and Quim Albergaria on drums, they all had been members of a different project named Manta Rota. The group issued a cdr titled "África" that same year and were the opening act for [a=Devandra Banhart] at Aula Magna. 2006 was a prolific year for the trio, starting with a live collaboration with [a=Can]'s [a=Damo Suzuki] at ZDB, a national tour with [a=Fish & Sheep] and [a=Tropa Macaca] dubbed "Caravana do Estrilho", opening for [a=Comets On Fire] shows on their European tour, and releasing two records "Cena Espírita", a self-released studio recording and "Quebranto", a live recording from their appearance at the 2005 edition of the Sonic Scope Festival issued by [l=Rafflesia]. In January 2007 Pedro Gomes announces that Rita Vozone had left the group and they will continue as a duo, they do continue to perform live but less often than before, and go on a hiatus in 2010 after a concert at Stones in Lisboa on April 1st, the two musicians had grown musically apart. In 2012 the project is revived by Pedro with a new formation, as he is joined by Gabriel Ferrandini a drummer with which he previously collaborated live as a duo, and by André Abel from [a=Tropa Macaca] on guitar, this line-up played a few shows and in February 2015 the group plays at Rescaldo Festival with [a=Manuel Mota] as a guest guitarist, André was no longer a member, later that year the project becomes a quartet with Pedro Sousa on sax and Miguel Abras on bass.
