Perkins

French figure of Bordeaux rock. A former member of the Nashmen, he served as guitarist and vocalist for the band's two-year existence. In 1967, he signed, alone, for Barclay and released two 45rpm for this label, without success. One title, however, "C'est Ça Le Monde", is now frequently cited in anthologies on garage rock "à la française". Perkins will then be the support of Jimi Hendrix Experience and Johnny Hallyday this same year. A second disc is released in the process and will be classified number 1 in the Canadian charts. Perkins tries his luck one year there then returns to France where his contract with Barclay ends. A third disc is released almost without his knowledge for Philips. End of the story? Not yet. John Perkins Group will take over, then more recently J.P. Perkins in a southern rock register.
