Ransom Wilson

Born 25 October 1951 in Tuscaloosa (Alabama). Ransom Wilson is an American flutist and conductor. He studied the flute at the North Carolina School of the Arts, the Juilliard School, New York, and in Paris with [a379816]. He studied conducting with, amongst others, [a299702]. A founding member of [a837570], Wilson was music director of the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra from 1985 to 1992. He was principal conductor of the [a1346681], artistic director of the Oklahoma Mozart Festival from 1985 to 2005, music director of the Opera/Omaha, and music director of the [a2410834]. He teaches at the Yale School of Music.
