Stemming from a nomadic family with roots in both Kenya and Jamaica, Jo was brought up in a house two miles from the nearest neighbour in the wilds of northern Scotland. Her parents moved constantly in her youth, which saw her spending periods in Turkey, UAE, Kuwait, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Now based in Birmingham, England, Jo’s debut album Gown quietly received huge acclaim from the UK national press and won three awards in the 2010 Recharged Radio awards. Jo has recently become the first artist in the world to be working with an Airpiano.
