Spanish Singer-songwriter. Born July 12, 1947 in Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spain Died April 7 in Murcia, Spain, 2009 (Aged 61) of Lung cancer. Successful composer in Spanish-speaking countries, leading figure of Spanish music during the 'Transition', discovered by film director [a3861939], who urges her to acculturate musically in London, lived for 5 years in France, becoming an author and interpreter of essential ballads in Spanish, but remembered for her acclaimed performances in French too, in particular the classic [i]Ne Me Quitte Pas[/i] by [a=Jacques Brel]. She sold 10 million records.
