Ib Glindemann

Danish jazz musician and big band leader, born September 27, 1934 in Copenhagen, Denmark, died April 6, 2019. While studying trumpet at a conservatory, he led his own big band from 1951 to 1959, modeled on [a=Stan Kenton]'s groups. Glindemann also became known for pioneering rock 'n' roll in Denmark. From 1958 he led the house band at the illegal commercial Radio Merkur. After a long period out of the spotlight, Glindemann made a comeback in 1994 with an album where contemporary Danish pop and rock artists like [a=Dicte] and [a=Jimmy Jørgensen] contributed vocals.
