Malta (2)

Malta was a Swedish pop duo consisting of Claes af Geijerstam and Göran Fristorp. In the Melodifestivalen 1973 (where they beat [a=ABBA] who came 3rd place with Ring, Ring), the duo performed the winning contribution "Sommar'n som aldrig säger nej". In the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest, the lyrics were translated into English and the title was "You Are Summer - You Never Tell Me No". Before the Eurovision Song Contest, they had to change their name so as not to be confused with the country of Malta, and appeared under the name Nova (though some TV signs read "The Nova"), despite the fact that Malta did not participate in 1973 due to the fact that they'd finished last two years in a row. The song became number 5 in the Eurovision Song Contest, and Swedish [a=Monica Dominique] became ESC's very first female conductor. On May 16, 2009, the duo appeared together in the TV show Babben & Co together for the first time in 36 years. Babben Larsson and Linda Bengtzing also participated in the performance.
