Gene King

Gene King has remixed and produced music for numerous labels such as : Contraband, A&M, BMG, KMS, Defender, Slip N’Slide, Debut, Hi-Bias, Warner, Easy Street, Ultrasound and in most recent years Philosophie Music (Detroit), Priti Soul/Jellybean Records in NYC and the legendary 157 Shelter Records in New York City. In 1993 he co-founded Contraband records with Carlos Clarke (for a more complete list of productions, please refer to the list below.) In October 2005, King founded Shines Records which later spawned the Plusgroove Records imprint, putting out favourites such as “Sunrise" (by Genetix Ft. Shanchoy), as well as "Do With You" (by Suges ft Limore), and many others. While busy in the studio and deejaying at the downtown clubs, Gene also became a radio programmer for CKLN.88.1 FM in 1993 – playing for "Midnight Madness", nowadays known as Soul Fusion Express. A year after the name change, Gene King started his own show, Vibes N’ Vinyl ,which aired every Friday night/Saturday mornings until 2011. From 2015, the show aired on internet radio station www.i-liveradio.com up until April 18, 2020. Gene is currently producing "Shines Records Presents", which airs Friday nights/Saturday mornings on www.i-liveradio.com as well as every second Thursday at 9pm on www.housemusicradio.ca . Gene is currently working Clubs in the Downtown Entertainment District in Toronto and on remixes and productions for artists around the world.
