Kent Martin (2)

American tenor vocalist, soloist, and barbershop tenor. Born on November 3, 1942. Kent began his singing career when he was in the military. He sang tenor in a quartet while serving his country and traveled around singing with them. He began competing in the SPEBSQSA quartet contest in a quartet called Midas Touch and was a semi-finalist with them in the SPEBSQSA international quartet contest in the late 1960’s. Kent was one of the founding members of the legendary 1980 SPEBSQSA International Champions, the Boston Common, and sang with them for over 30 years traveling the world with them. His full-voice tenor was sought after by anyone who heard him sing. In the Boston Common, Kent sang many solos such as his popular “Anytime.” Kent was inducted to the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Hall Of Fame along with the other members of the Boston Common in 2014. Kent was also named one of the top ten best barbershop tenors of all time in 2015. Aside from barbershop singing, Kent did several other solo gigs of his own singing solo love songs. Kent released his own album entitled “Love Emotions” in 2006. This album featured many popular love songs from the 1940’s. Today Kent resides in Florida and is a retired carpenter.
